Char Boshart, M.A, CCC-SLP
Author of SwalloworkS
Years ago, in a university in southern California, I sat on the edge of my seat in Dr. Tarr’s Introduction to Speech Pathology class. I learned to love learning about the mouth from Dr. Tarr.
This particular day, Dr. Tarr shared his recently completed book with us. It was a little book about the Oral Resting Posture; I still have it somewhere. It changed my life. I was fascinated as to the simplicity that what we do between speaking, chewing, and swallowing can powerfully impact our speaking, chewing, and swallowing. I started studying the mouth and never looked back. The principles of the oral resting posture have influenced the quality and results of my therapy.
Since that time, over many years, I done a lot of therapy. Myofunctional therapy, articulation therapy and language therapy in private practice, and articulation and language therapy in the schools. Sometimes I worked in the schools by day, and private practice by night; not unlike many SLPs.
Now, I write, do seminars and workshops, and enjoy the mountains, rivers, and wildlife of North Georgia, and the pleasant memories of oh-so-many sweet clients and their parents. They are the best teachers, you know.
All the best to you,
Char Boshart, M.A., CCC-SLP
